We currently offer the following instruments,
Electric, acoustic and bass guitars
Electric (and acoustic) guitar tuition follows an established curriculum which aims to balance technical and musical skills, over a wide appreciation of different musics. Students learn lead and rhythm guitar, or bass guitar, with a finger style technique. Bass guitar techniques include walking bass, building bass riffs, and bass runs with chord sequence backings.
Music lessons are available every day and evening Monday to Saturday and teaching styles and targets are centred to your needs. Rock School exams and GCSE and A'Level work is supported.
Classical guitar
Classical guitar tuition at Coda is provided for beginners up to advanced students, for adults or children age 7 upwards who want to learn classical or folk guitar, either for their own pleasure or to perform.
Guitars are available for hire, but students will need to purchase their own instruments in the longer term. Student’s voluntary external examinations follow the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) and Trinity Guildhall syllabuses.
Group guitar
New courses for students interested in a social and enjoyable way to learn folk/popular/acoustic guitar. The programme provides promotion from absolute beginner to intermediate after one year. Students may transfer to the intermediate group at any time if their ability warrants the move. The material used is song based although groups will be given the opportunity of studying instrumental pieces.
