The school holidays are drawing close and Coda is offering a series of fun and creative music workshops for children and young people, whether total musical beginners or budding singer songwriters. Come and join in!

Music Cauldron: Playing In a Band
Further development for those wishing to play together in an ensemble/band setting, this workshop will look at melody and chord progressions to build a song with a group of players. With Bob Burke, our Music Cauldron Director at the helm, the workshop is suitable for young players aged 9 to 19 at any standard. Come find your sound and bring it to the Cauldron mix!

Music Cauldron In Focus: Singer/songwriters
An afternoon exploring your own singing style, and developing vocal technique toward performance. Led by Rachel Rafter and Bob Burke this session will support singers that wish to build their performance skills and provide guidance on singing and writing your own material as well as singing other people’s music. All standards of singer welcome and all styles supported.

The Funky Orchestra
A fun day of musical games and creative music making, building the biggest funkiest orchestra in town!

The next Music Cauldron Workshop called Building Arrangements and Performing takes place here at Coda on Monday 13th February from 2-5pm. For young musicians aged 11-18 playing all instruments at any standard.
Working with professional musicians, Bob Burke, a senior lecturer at Southampton University and Chris Hopgood of Lady Winwood's Maggot, this workshop provides young musicians of all standards an opportunity to develop their own musical sound, supporting songwriting skills and playing in a band.

Exploring Musical Patterns
The next session in Coda's new creative music programme takes place this Saturday 5th February from 2pm.
Exploring Musical Patterns will enable players at all levels to examine composition and arranging techniques and to begin to create their own new music.
The session offers 3 hours of inspirational music making and is ideal for instrumental players looking to find their voice and play new music with others.
The workshop will be led by Bob Burke and Sam Mason. Bob is a Senior Lecturer in Popular Music at Southampton Solent University and a well-known musician and producer, and Sam is an experienced workshop leader and composer with a background in orchestral and community projects.
Musical Patterns is open to players at all levels and of all ages and costs £12.
