Music for Older People
Our work with older people, including those living with dementia, is a valued part of our Music for Wellbeing programme.
Through carefully designed musical sessions, we support individuals in residential care and community settings to reconnect with memories, express themselves, and engage meaningfully with others. Music can be a powerful way to reduce feelings of isolation and anxiety, while supporting identity, communication, and emotional wellbeing.
We work in care homes across Bournemouth, Poole, and Christchurch, building strong relationships with residents and staff to create sessions that are responsive, enjoyable, and person-centred.
Supporting Care Environments
Alongside our regular sessions, we also support care home staff through training and guidance in using music as part of everyday care.
This includes introducing simple, practical approaches inspired by music therapy techniques, helping staff to:
enhance communication with residents
create positive shared experiences
support emotional wellbeing through music in day-to-day interactions
Our aim is to leave a lasting impact, giving staff the confidence to continue using music in meaningful and supportive ways beyond our sessions.
