Nocturne: Hello Darkness, with Briony Hartley

£10.00

Saturday 19 September, 7pm-8.30pm
£10pp

Hello Darkness, my old friend…. Take a break from the dazzle of digital distraction and rest in immersive darkness with recorded music, poetry, lantern making and contemplation as vision fades and other senses come alive.

Throughout history artists, writers and musicians have been inspired to create ‘nocturnes’, capturing the aesthetics and feelings that darkness brings. Darkness offers a different way to experience both the world and ourselves, yet the glare of screens is now keeping us isolated and inert in the evening. Have we forgotten the magic of night?

Nocturne is a series of gentle evening gatherings that celebrate natural darkness and human connection. Each event brings a small group together after sunset to pause, reflect, and remember the magic of night. Tonight our theme is present, where we turn away from electric light to greet the darkness, rest and reflect.

A celebration of natural darkness and human connection, Nocturne invites you to seize the night…
What to Expect:

• A guided night-time gathering in the Acoustic Room at CODA

• Mindful reflection and creative activity – making simple night memory lanterns

• Listen to nocturnal music as evening darkness falls

• Space to relax, reflect and connect with nature and each other at night

• This event will be experienced seated in the dark with minimal artificial light.
